Meet our consultants
Dave Robinson
Dave Robinson has spent his entire adult life presenting information to people to enable them to make choices. Professionally Dave has worked in sales for companies around the country providing information to consumers that has ultimately guided their choices and decisions. As a father of four children, Dave has offered his life experience and fatherly wisdom to the sundry questions of life and “why daddy” inquiries he has (and continues) to field. As an athletic coach, Dave has given his teams the skills to succeed and work together toward victories. Now Dave has joined the team at Virtual College Prep to provide a broad perspective to young people considering what their place will be in the world ahead of them full of boundless opportunities.
In his most recent professional position, Dave was the Marketing Manager for Teoma Systems, a systems integrator based in Troy, MI, where he was responsible for branding, promotion, and business development. He was also a member of Automation Alley’s Human Resources and Marketing sub-committees. Prior to Teoma Systems, Dave was the Marketing and Sales Director at Presbyterian Villages of Michigan’s Village of Redford Senior Living Community. This followed over 20 years in the telecommunications industry with AT&T, Western Union, and ITT World Communications where he held positions in product marketing, sales management, and direct sales.
Dave has coached Holy Name Parish’s Girls’ CYO softball teams since 1996 and Marian High School’s powderpuff football teams since 2003.
He has been a very active alumnus of John Carroll University since graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts in History a few years ago. Dave has been an Alumni-in-Admissions College Night Representative for the East Coast and Mid West territories since 1976, a Class Columnist for the university’s quarterly Alumni Journal since 1994, and he has been involved in a variety of other events hosted by the University in Rochester, NY, Baltimore, MD, and here in Detroit, MI. In 1994 Dave received the John Carroll University Alumni Service Award.
Dave has been married to his college sweetheart, Molly Gibbons Robinson, for over 33 years. Together they have raised four children, Kate, Brendan, Keenan and Macklin. Their two sons attended Brother Rice and their daughters attended Marian. Each has graduated from college and three have post graduate degrees.
“I know first hand the challenges young people face as they prepare for college. Meeting the expectations of their parents, family, and friends can be a very powerful influence when it comes to selecting a college. Virtual College Prep will help a student discover his or her interests and set a course that will lead to fulfilling his or her dreams. What parent doesn’t want this for their child? That is why I am glad to be a part of the VCP Team.”
