Patrick G. Callaghan, Ph.D., SPHR
Dr. Callaghan is currently the President of HR Partners, Inc. a Bloomfield Hills, Michigan based Human Resources consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, executive coaching and HR consulting services. Prior to joining HR Partners, he was the Director of Human Resources at AlixPartners, LLC where he established and implemented the human capital strategy for the most successful consulting firm in the world (based on an average $800K + billing per consultant/year). He was also a member of the firm’s Operating Committee which is responsible for providing the overall direction and implementation of corporate strategy. He led a 14 person team which was responsible for delivering recruiting, staffing, training, assessment, policy development, performance management, benefits, and employee relations services globally.
Prior to AlixPartners he worked at Walsh College where he was the senior executive in charge of the Office of Online Learning - a nine person team responsible for supporting faculty and students representing over 5,000 students and $5.5 million in annual tuition revenue. He is currently the President of the Alliance for Excellence in Online Learning – a 12 member college consortium dedicated to best practices in online learning.
Dr. Callaghan is the former senior vice president of AT&T Capital Corporation, where he served as a strategic officer for ten years, directing corporate initiatives such as Competency Development, Succession Planning, Workforce Restructuring, and Human Performance Management. In addition to his Human Resources responsibilities, Dr. Callaghan directed the Corporate Communication, Corporate Services, and Multimedia Services functions for the Systems Leasing division of AT&T Capital Corporation.
Dr. Callaghan has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Management from Albion College, a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University, and a doctoral degree in Education, specializing in Instructional Technology, from Wayne State University. He has also attained the highest certification in the Human Resources profession – Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). In 2005, he was awarded the distinguished honor of Automation Alley “Member of the Year” in recognition for his work as co-Chair of the e-Learning subcommittee which did ground breaking research on the impact of e-Learning in southeastern Michigan.
